Ferrari 458 Spider Review

Ferrari 458 Spider Review

After removing a few pieces of the picture, Ferrari finally showed grim look of a Ferrari 458 Spider. With the roof open and the name Spider behind it, this car was to be the successor of F355, F360 and F430 Spider which also has variants. The car is expected to compete with the McLaren MP4-12C.

As reported by Auto Express, Ferrari 458 Spider is actually the twin brother of Ferrari 458 Italy. The difference is, when 458 Italian coupe-shaped, 458 Spider has a slightly more sporty look with a retractable roof in just 14 seconds.

Behind the body of 458 Italian and 458 Spider were both hidden ear of a capacity of 4.5 liters V8 engine the same. The machine is capable of spewing power up to 462 bhp at 9,000 rpm with torque reaching 540 Nm delivered by the transmission of dual-clutch seven-speed F1 paddleshift.

But the open-close roof system turned out to make the weight 458 Spider finished 50 pounds heavier than 458 Italians. The result, the ability of this car was slightly reduced. Acceleration from rest to 100 km / h can be achieved in 3.4 seconds.

While the speed down from 325 km / h to 318.6 km / h due to the addition of weight. But though slightly slower, 458 Spider is instantly become one of todays fastest convertible.

There are three driving modes can be selected users of the 458 Spider Sport, Race and Normal which will automatically adjust the traction control, suspension until the exhaust system.

According to the plan, this car will be officially shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show performances will be opened on 13 September with a price tag that seemed slightly higher than 458 Italians.

Ferrari 16M Scuderia Spider

This new high performance sports car features the very best of Ferraris latest mid-rear-engined 8-cylinder technology. In fact, the Scuderia Spider 16M is faster round the Fiorano circuit than any other Prancing Horse open-top road car yet built. This truly evocative special series model, of which just 499 unique examples will be produced, is aimed at the most passionate clients, drivers who demand both exclusivity and superb driving pleasure.

Functionally, the 16M is a Scuderiafied Ferrari F430 Spider. It gets the same low-back-pressure, higher-compression (11.9:1 versus 11.3:1) V-8 good for 503-horses and 347 pound-feet (versus the F430s 483/343) bolted to the same F1-Superfast2 transmission capable of shifting in 60 milliseconds with torque interruption of about 40 milliseconds. The chassis setup is also nearly identical from the standard carbon-ceramic brakes (15.6 inch front, squeezed by six-piston calipers, 13.7-inch rear with 4-piston calipers), wider 19-inch tires on unique rims (including an optional new design for the Spider), harder and lower springs, and the race-tuned adjustable damping, F1 Trac, and E-Diff systems.
